RecTake is a diary, not a medical device
RecTake writes down what you say. Nothing more — and that is the point.
The app makes no diagnosis, gives no treatment advice, states no dosage and does not judge whether a preparation is right for you. It will not tell you whether your magnesium works. It makes sure you can look up afterwards when you took it.
RecTake is not a medical device within the meaning of Regulation (EU) 2017/745 (MDR) and has not gone through a conformity assessment. The app is not intended to diagnose, prevent, monitor, treat or alleviate disease.
What that means for you
For health questions, ask a trained human. A doctor or a pharmacist. What is in RecTake does not replace that — at most it helps you prepare the conversation, because you arrive with data instead of recollections.
Do not change a treatment because an app shows you something. Stopping, switching or re-dosing prescribed medication belongs in medical hands.
In an emergency, call the emergency number. In Germany 112, out-of-hours medical service 116 117. In other countries, the local equivalent. Open the phone, not an app.
A pattern is not proof. If two things co-occur in your history, that does not mean one caused the other. The history in RecTake is a memory aid, not a study — not least because you are the only participant and nobody controls the conditions.
What we have to say about recognition
Speech recognition is good, but it is not error-free. It can misunderstand numbers, units and preparation names — “0.5 g” can become “5 g”. Check your entries, especially for medication and quantities. The app shows every recognised entry for confirmation; that moment exists for exactly this.
We cannot answer for consequences arising from entries that were recognised incorrectly and not corrected.
Completeness and availability
We aim for accurate information in the app and on this website, but we can guarantee neither completeness nor continuous availability. Speech recognition runs in your phone's operating system. It does not need an internet connection. It does need an operating system that can do the recognition itself. Where it cannot — mainly Android before version 13 — RecTake has no speech recognition. Entries can then only be typed.
Back up what matters elsewhere. Your entries live only on your phone (see the privacy policy). That is good for privacy and bad for the case where the device breaks. There is no copy with us to restore from.
Liability
We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act.
For ordinary negligence we are liable only for breach of an obligation whose fulfilment makes proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose observance you may regularly rely, limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. Liability is otherwise excluded.
None of this replaces what is said above: decisions about taking, dosing or discontinuing belong with a doctor or a pharmacist.

Both stores judge health apps more strictly when this note is missing or hidden.
